Intercultural Engagement

Coming into college I had traveled outside of the country once, but otherwise I did not have a lot of opportunities for  intercultural engagement in my everyday life. Upon arriving to college this changed drastically as I was able to interact with a lot of people from other cultures on a daily basis. While I always have found value in hearing and learning from other people's experiences, the Honors Program allowed me to create a more defined approach to intercultural engagement. That approach being, when I am engaging with another culture, I will try to be self-conscious of my own biases and ethnocentrism and approach interaction with an open mind.
